We can only apologise in advance for the first of these two bits of transfer news but, seeing as the source cited is the Times (at least for the fact the striker has a release clause), it at least makes for interesting reading.

According to a number of sources in the last 24 hours, Leicester striker, Jamie Vardy, had a £30 million release clause inserted into a contract he recently signed and this has alerted the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and.. you guessed it, Liverpool, that the striker could be available in the summer.

It’s an interesting leap to go from ‘player has release clause’ to ‘the top four Premier League clubs want him’ but that’s exactly why you all love transfer stories, isn’t it? Regardless, story goes that Vardy could leave Leicester in the summer, regardless of whether the club wins the Premier League this season, with the 29 year old seemingly wanting one shot at the big time with one of the country’s biggest clubs.

Purely from a Liverpool perspective, whilst Vardy would probably be a player Klopp would like for his hard-work, pressing and aggressive forward style, it would not make a great deal of financial sense to spend such a huge fee on a 29 year old with just one good season in the Premier League. We may be proven wrong, but don’t expect to see Leicester’s star man rocking up to Anfield any time soon.

Elsewhere, and more realistically, there are claims that Liverpool are chasing Belgian starlet Samuel Bastien. The Anderlecht midfielder is currently on loan to Serie B side Avellino, playing over 20 times for the Italian side this season.

According to the Express, the Reds had already expressed an interest last summer before the player moved to Italy on loan but are keen still and will hope to pay around £5.2 million for the 19 year old in the summer after being highly impressed with his form in Serie B.
