The 22 year old could be a summer target for Liverpool

With the form of Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge in recent weeks, it’s easy to forget that Liverpool’s strikers have struggled in front of goal this season, with loss of form and injuries taking its toll.

But news this morning suggests that Liverpool have begun the search for a new striker, with rumours of a summer move for Christian Benteke away from Anfield.

The man that will solve any remaining goal-scoring issues we still have, according to the Daily Mirror, is Marseille’s Belgian international Michy Batshuayi.

The 22 year old has been enjoying a good season in the French top-flight, scoring 23 goals in all competitions, with 15 in Ligue 1; a big improvement on his first season in France, where he managed just 9 league goals.

The striker looks to have a bright future however, and adds to the long list of Belgian youngsters currently making waves in top leagues across Europe.

Unfortunately, the player is contracted to Marseille until 2020 and will be unlikely to leave for anything less than his valuation of £30 million. And, predictably, Spurs are also thought to be interested, with the paper claiming that the Reds hope to beat their league rivals to the punch.

Apparently, Klopp has identified the Belgian international as a ‘priority target’, to go along with the half a million German targets presumably, and will look to bring him in over the summer to bolster the current squad.
