With a host of new signings likely in the summer, the main area of contention for many is in goal, with Simon Mignolet continually failing to convince or impress.

But Liverpool may have to look elsewhere, should the club choose to bring in competition for Mignolet or, God forbid, opt for a full replacement as the man mentioned most to fill those particular boots – Marc-Andre Ter Stegen – is going nowhere.

At least, that’s according to his team mate, Gérard Pique who you would think had spoken to his Barca pal about what his plans for the summer are.

Not so, as the quotes that have been attributed to the former Man Utd player demonstrate, asking the familiar question of: ‘ why would anybody want to leave the greatest club in the world?’.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, the defender said: “Since you’re asking me, Ter Stegen isn’t going. No one wants to leave Barcelona.

“We are Barca, and to be at this club is the greatest happiness a player could have. This club, this city, this fanbase, we have it all. I’m convinced everyone will stay.”

So, there you have it: nobody wants to leave Barcelona so a man that has taken part in just four League games in two years and has to be content with cup appearances wouldn’t want to leave the club. Coming from a man that is one of the first names on the team sheet every season, it’s probably hard to fathom.

That said, whilst it may be unlikely now that the German goalie will ens up at Anfield, given his ridiculous asking price, don’t be surprised to see him playing away from Barcelona next year.
