Origi celebrates after scoring on Sunday

It certainly didn’t start as he may have wanted it, but Divock Origi’s time at Anfield is finally starting to look promising. The young striker arrived at the club with a big reputation but on the back of a fairly poor final season at Lille.

After usurping both Benteke and Lukaku to be the main man for his country at the World Cup a couple of years ago, the pressure seemed to get to the 20 year old but, under Jurgen Klopp’s tutelage, he’s finally beginning to show what he’s capable of.

A goal in the Europa League quarter-final first leg away at Dortmund last week was quickly followed up by a couple of goals against Stoke on Sunday, after replacing Sheyi Ojo from the bench at half-time and the forward now looks like he’s even pushing Daniel Sturridge to start most games.

And the youngster is delighted that he’s finally starting to make the grade at such a big club. Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after the match yesterday, Origi said: “I worked hard and now it’s starting to pay off.

“I just try to help the team as much as possible and enjoy the moments. It’s a wonderful moment so I’m very happy.

“He always believed in me and he believes in the group also. The fact that I’m on the pitch gives me confidence and I just try to play my game and enjoy it. I’m very happy that I could score again today.

“Today I’m feeling very good and for the future, however the coach uses me I’m ready. I just try to help the team and ask many questions.”

The 20 year old striker even got the crowd chanting his name, something which will no doubt help his game come on leaps and bounds.
