Samed Yesil – The German forward appears to have been at Anfield for more than a decade but, in reality, it’s only been a few years. Signed for a (at that time) bargain fee of £1 million, 18 year old Yesil was seen as the future of German forwards.
The intervening period has been a struggle though, with long-term injuries interrupting the players development, and the previous regimes inability to properly utilise the youth system meaning that a player like Yesil would just be repeatedly sent out on loan.
Despite the setbacks though, Yesil remains a hot prospect, simply one that has slipped under the radar in the past 18 months and is currently on loan at Swiss Super League side Luzern, where he has played more than a dozen games, scoring just once.
The 21 year old still has a bright future ahead of him, as his appearances in the Liverpool youth teams have shown, where he has a very positive goalscoring record. Even looking at his German youth international record, where he has scored 31 in 33 games from U16-U19 level, it is clear that Yesil has no trouble finding the goal.
