4 Liverpool players that could replace Sakho vs Villarreal

The Ivorian veteran should get the nod tonight

Kolo Toure – The veteran at the club, Toure is enjoying a wonderful end to his final season at Anfield and, for many, it would be a fitting end to have him see out the season alongside Dejan Lovren. Many feel his massive experience, both internationally and in Europe could benefit Liverpool in the long run.

However, much like all of the club’s other current centre backs, he is lacking in pace and is quite prone to the odd individual error.

That said, he has been nothing but rock solid when he has been called upon since January and, even after the two goals conceded on Saturday to Newcastle, neither he or Lovren were truly at fault.

Toure is many fan’s favourite to step in, and considering his rather favorable stats, it’s easy to see why as he has a far better defensive duels average than Skrtel, with 52.5% success rate from 18 Premier League and Europa League games this season.

In terms of passing, he averages out at 83% completition but is less prone to simply clearing the ball than Skrtel, preferring to play it out from the back and it is quite a sight to see him storming up the pitch every so often.

Of course, stats aren’t the be all and end all, particularly for a defender and the fact that Toure exudes a much more reassuring persona which filters through to his team mates and the stands is a massive mark in his favour here.

As it stands, Toure is the more likely pick to partner Dejan Lovren from tomorrow night and for the remainder of the season and would be many fan’s choice.
