Steven Caulker – Go on, admit it, you forgot he was even on loan to us, didn’t you?
If you didn’t, then you’d be a brave fan to demand that Caulker is given the nod. Many probably didn’t even realise he was in the Europa League squad.
But when defensive cover was needed, the English central defender was brought in as cover, primarily for cup competitions from February onwards. It just hasn’t worked out for Caulker since his arrival, having spent more time up front than in his usual position.
Put it this way, if Caulker starts tonight, I’ll eat my hat! In fact, if he plays again before the end of the season it’ll be because every other centre back has been injured or suspended.
