The draw will give Klopp plenty to work with at Anfield for the return leg
The build up to this one looked as if it may overshadow the game, such was the excitement felt by Dortmund fans and the German press at the return of one of their favourite sons.
Talk of cameras purely to follow Klopp’s every movement and the weight of expectancy on the former manager thankfully proved false, and the watching world were treated to a fantastic, end-to-end match that saw Liverpool take a narrow advantage to Anfield next week.
A host of the players Klopp sent out last night came out of the game with credit, particularly the centre backs. And, in truth, a little bit of clinical finishing from the Reds and the tie would have been all but over. As it is, we have another potentially enthralling game to look forward to next week.
