Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge believes that winger Sheyi Ojo has a bright future ahead of him at the Anfield club.

Since being brought back on loan from Wolves at the start of this year with the club being caught up in an injury crisis, Jurgen Klopp gave Ojo his chance in a FA Cup third round tie against Exeter. He impressed the German manager with his performance, and has subsequently featured more prominently for the Reds, including starting at the weekend in the 2-0 win over Watford. Aldo praised Ojo for his performance, writing in his column for the Liverpool Echo:

“They did well again, especially Sheyi Ojo, who caught my eye once more. He used the ball well but he was superb for the assist. How he closed down the defender, and then had a look up to set up Roberto Firmino, was excellent.”

“That’s something I saw him do the first time I watched him back when he was 15, so it’s obviously in his game already, so it’s good to see him doing it at such a high level. don’t want to put added pressure on the lad, but the way he conducts himself impresses me.

“It was excellent from him and I hope he keeps up that sort of mentality, because he’s clearly a lad willing to learn.”

At 18, the winger certainly has time on his side to develop his game further, and will be hoping for one or more starts in the next couple of league matches as the Reds prioritise the Europa League final against Sevilla, which takes place in only 8 days time in the Swiss city of Basel.
