Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge doesn’t expect Jordan Henderson to start against Sevilla in the Europa League final tomorrow night.

The Reds captain returned after injury as a second half substitute against West Bromwich Albion in the 1-1 draw at the weekend but, writing in his column for the Liverpool Echo, Aldo thinks the match on Wednesday may have come too soon:

“I think Jordan Henderson will have to make do with starting on the bench in Basel but even that is great because you couldn’t see that a few weeks ago.”

“He might play a part in some way but I think we all know the team – it’s the one that’s played most of the games in Europe.”

Aldridge is expecting the following line up versus Sevilla tomorrow. Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Toure, Moreno, Can, Milner, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino and Sturridge.

With Divock Origi returning to full fitness, and manager Jurgen Klopp’s preference for the Belgian over Sturridge in big European matches recently, there is an outside chance of the young striker starting, but as Aldridge stated, it is fully expected that the same lineup which did so well in the semi final second leg against Villarreal in the 3-0 win at Anfield, will start the final in Basel.
