Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has called on fans to ensure next season’s signings are given time to settle in at the club

New £29m signing Roberto Firmino’s early season performances led to criticism of the player from many quarters but his form in 2016 is proof according to Klopp that patience is required when a player is introduced to a new team. He told the Liverpool Echo:

“What we can learn from Roberto’s situation going forward when it comes to next season’s signings is wait to make judgements. Don’t be too quick to judge players.”

The Brazilian forward has scored 10 goals in 40 matches in all competitions this season, as well as providing 10 assists. In 2016, he has scored nine and made five assists, proving that his second half of the season has been much stronger, improving his fitness and developing understanding with his team mates under Jurgen Klopp. At the weekend, he scored another goal against Watford to seal a 2-0 win leaving the Reds eighth in the table with 58 points. They face Chelsea in a rearranged match at Anfield tomorrow night.
