Liverpool and Leicester City are in the hunt to sign Slovenian midfielder Josip Ilicic from Fiorentina, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.
They could be joined in the race by Jurgen Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund with the player’s price tag at around €15million or just under £12million, reports the Italian newspaper.
Ilicic has been in excellent form for the Italian club this season with 15 goals in 37 matches in all competitions. He generally plays as an attacking midfielder and is able to provide goals as well as score them, with 5 assists to his name this season.
The 28 year old has been one of Fiorentina’s most consistent performers this campaign, and has helped the club to fifth in the Serie A table with 61 points from 37 games. Their recent form has been poor however and they haven’t scored in their last two games with back to back 0-0 draws following a 2-1 defeat to newly crowned league champions Juventus.
