Germany manager Joachim Low has encouraged Mario Gotze to leave Bayern Munich this summer to revitalise his career.

The German international has been linked with moves to Liverpool, Chelsea, Juventus and former club Borussia Dortmund, and Low told German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung that a move away from Bayern to a new environment could do wonders for his development as a player:

“In general, I would say that a transfer can release new energy. A new environment, new surroundings, new motivations. Just look at how Toni Kroos has come on. He was a top player at Bayern already, but he has taken another leap in Madrid. He needs a coach who desperately wants him in his team, but that is not in any way a criticism of Bayern or of Pep Guardiola.”

Gotze has already been encouraged to leave by former Bayern Munich star Thomas Strunz and club legend Franz Beckenbauer. German media have reported that Gotze had a phone conversation with incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti last week but was not given any assurances about starting more games under him next season. It is believed the 23 year old is considering his future with Dortmund and Liverpool the most likely destinations for the player.

For the time being though, he will be focusing on getting a starting place in Joachim Low’s side in next month’s European Championships.
