Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel’s agent Mithat Halis has admitted that three different clubs are chasing the Slovakian international.

It was believed that Turkish champions Besiktas were the the most likely destination for the 31 year old with reports in Turkish media linking Skrtel with a move to the Black Eagles, but Halis has stated they are not interested, although their Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce and Galatastaray are:

“There are three clubs that want Martin. Fenerbahce have been interested for four years but there are also offers from China and Wolfsburg also want him. Besiktas are not interested and Galatasaray cannot currently afford him.”

The offer from the Chinese Super League is hardly a surprise considering the financial clout Chinese clubs currently have but the link to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg is a new one one. Similar to Sami Hyypia, who left the Reds for Bayer Leverkusen for the final two seasons of his career, could Skrtel leave the Reds to play out his final years in Germany? A decision on his future will most likely be made after his participation with Slovakia at the European Championships in France is at an end.
