Liverpool have joined Atletico Madrid and Juventus in the race to sign Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Journalis Javier Gomara in the Spanish newspaper reports that although Atletico are still favourites for the Uruguayan’s signature, Liverpool are trying to muscle in on the deal, and could complicate matters for the Champions League finalists.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are prepared to shell out this summer in order to compete again at the top of the Premier League but Mundo Deportivo believe that Cavani is currently favouring a move to Atletico over Juventus and the Reds.

A major stumbling block for any potential suitor though is PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi who won’t allow the player to leave for less than €60million (£47million), close to the €64million they paid Napoli back in 2013.

Paying £47million for a 29 year old isn’t probably something that Liverpool are prepared to do, especially with a number of younger strikers already on the club’s books.
