Samuel Bastien’s agent Franklin Mala-Makani has told Sport Witness that his client will only talk about a potential transfer to Liverpool when an official bid is received by the player’s current club Anderlecht.

When asked about an official Liverpool bid, Mala-Makani confirmed he is aware of a bid from Portuguese champions Benfica but he will need to wait until the Anderlecht general manager is back from holiday to ask about any Reds approach:

“Maybe Liverpool talked directly with Anderlecht’s general manager, but Benfica also made an official offer. We will see because the general manager from Anderlecht comes back from small vacation and then we will know more this week.”

When pushed about Bastien’s interest in a move to Anfield, Mala-Makani said he will talk more if a bid is officially lodged by the Premier League club:

“For the moment, he [Bastien] said nothing. But we will talk when it becomes official from Liverpool football club. We prefer to talk about an official offer.”

Bastien has been heavily linked with the Reds over the last few months. He has been on loan at Serie B side Avellino where he spent all of last season. The 19 year old midfielder made 32 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist as the Italian club finished 14th.
