Mexican Star flattered by Liverpool interest

|

Italian journalist Ciro Venerato has told Radio CRC (quotes via pianetazzurro.it) that Porto’s Mexican international midfielder Hector Herrera has decided on a move to Napoli, even though he is flattered by the interest that has been shown in him from Liverpool.

The 26 year old is currently away on international duty with Mexico at the Copa America but told journalists that his future will be sorted out by his club Porto. The Portuguese club are being forced to sell their top talent after losing out on Champions League football, finishing third in the Portuguese league and are therefore willing to allow Herrera to leave. Venerato believes Porto are asking for €20million while Napoli will only pay €15million plus €2million in addons. Herrera, it is believed, has already agreed personal terms with the Italian club:

“Porto will ask 20 million for Herrera, while Napoli will offer 15 million plus 2million in add-ons. The broker of the deal has confirmed that Herrera is flattered by the interest from Liverpool, but wants Napoli, he wants to play at the San Paolo.”

Herrera made 38 appearances for Porto last season, scoring 9 goals. He has 42 caps for Mexico since making his international debut back in 2012.
