Napoli have agreed personal terms with Porto midfielder Hector Herrera’s agent, according to Calciomercato.it. The Mexican international has also been linked with a move to Liverpool.

The 26 year old is currently away at the Copa America but Porto and Napoli have been locked in negotiations for quite a while over the transfer fee for the player without a breakthrough.

Porto have to give 30% of the transfer fee to Herrera’s former side Pachuca and they are demanding a fee in the region of €25million (€20m plus addons) for the player. Napoli are not prepared to meet the Portuguese club’s demands and are said to have offered around €15million plus addons for the player.

The deadlock has led to reports in Italy that Liverpool could sneak in and take the player. The Reds look to have beaten Napoli already to another central midfielder in Piotr Zielinski with the club’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis expressing his frustration that the Polish international preferred the Reds over a move to Naples.
