Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has told Senegalese radio station RTS 1 en Direct that he believes Sadio Mane is joining a fantastic club.
The French defender is currently facing a ban from UEFA for doping offences but he welcomed the new signing to Anfield. He is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying:
“We met two or three times on the pitch and in the tunnel. It’s already been four years that I’ve been at this fantastic club and he will discover that by himself.”
Liverpool officially announced the signing of Senegalese forward Mane today. He has taken the number 19 shirt and it is believed that the player cost in the region of £30million. He is the fifth Southampton player Liverpool have bought in the past three seasons after Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne and Rickie Lambert.
Sakho meanwhile is still waiting on a decision from UEFA about his positive test. The ruling is believed to be announced in early July. The Reds may then have to look for defensive cover if the French international is given a long ban for what is believed to be a banned fat burning substance.
