Mario Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola has once again spoken about his client’s future at the Merseyside club. The Italian international has returned to preseason training with Liverpool although he played no part in the Reds’ first preseason match against Tranmere Rovers at the weekend.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italy (quotes via calciomercato.it), Raiola said he doesn’t rule out a return to Serie A for Balotelli although he is currently training with Jurgen Klopp’s side:

“No more Serie A for Balotelli ? I am not so pessimistic, I believe strongly in the quality of the player, I am optimistic and I think that Mario has time to prove himself. Today he is a player of Liverpool , the Reds wanted him back and he began working with Klopp.”

Balotelli has been linked with a move to newly promoted Serie A club Crotone as well as Sampdoria in recent weeks but the Liverpool Echo believe the Reds may consider terminating the 25 year old’s contract if they can’t offload the striker this summer. China may be one possibility as Chinese clubs would be able to afford the Italian’s wages but there have been no concrete offers for the player so far this season. In any case, it is believed the striker would like to stay in Europe but it may mean giving Balotelli a free transfer in order to get the player off the books.
