Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic’s future at the Bernabeu looks more uncertain than ever as AS report that Roma’s interest in the 22 year old has cooled in recent days.

Reports in Italy last month suggested that the Croatian international could move to Rome on loan but that now seems unlikely. The La Gazzetta Dello Sport believe that new AC Milan manager Vincenzo Montella likes Kovacic but Milan’s sale to a Chinese consortium makes any transfers complicated.

AS believe that Liverpool, West Ham and Everton are also interested in the midfielder. With the Reds struggling to agree deals for any of their central midfield targets, Kovacic may well be an option they revisit. There have been no further developments with Mahmoud Dahoud after his club Borussia Monchengladbach are believed to have told the Reds they are not prepared to sell while the transfer of Piotr Zielinski is looking more unlikely after Udinese turned down their £11.7million bid. Kovacic is believed to be available for £30million after the Daily Mail reported that Real Madrid had offered the player to Everton and West Ham.
