Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud’s agent Reza Fazeli has confirmed that there is interest in the player from Liverpool as well as a number of other clubs.

Up until now Liverpool’s links to Dahoud have only been reported in newspaper columns with his club Gladbach telling potential suitors that the player is not for sale but Fazeli told the Guardian that although interest from the Reds was genuine, he would be staying at the Bundesliga at least until next summer

“It is certain Mahmoud will stay with Gladbach for now. There has been a lot of interest in him, not just from Liverpool. But we have an agreement with Gladbach and everything has been postponed for next season. We will have to wait and see what happens in the future but it will be up to the club to accept a fee they think is acceptable.”

Dahoud will have one year left on his contract next summer and will be available for a lower fee than the €40m they reportedly rejected from Paris Saint-Germain earlier in August. The Guardian also say that Fazeli denied Dahoud has a release clause of £8.5million (€10m) which can be activated next summer. German publication SportBild reported the story early yesterday but the player’s agent was quit to deny this with the interview in the Guardian taking place yesterday afternoon..
