Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg are both stepping their chase to sign Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard but both the player and his father would like him to join Liverpool, according to AS.

The Spanish newspaper is reporting that after Odegaard spent some time with Zinedine Zidane’s first team squad as part of the club’s tour of North America, he will not be returning to Real’s B team, Castilla, for the new season and will definitely be sent out on loan along with a number of promising youngsters.

With more concrete interest from the German sides, both Odegaard and his father are however hopeful of a bid from Liverpool. He was impressed by the club’s training facilities when they toured the Kirkby and Melwood training bases before heĀ opted to join Real from Stromsgodset and it is believed the Reds were the player’s other preferred destination before his move to Spain in January last year. Whether the Reds will come back in for the 17 year old now he is available again it is not certain.
