Sport1 TV station in Germany have shared further extracts from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s interview with magazine Stern.

When asked about the money in the Premier League, Klopp said it was like playing a game:

“We act like it is play money…. This money is only there because there is football. It moves like in a closed circuit… ‘You want to offer 105 million? Great, we have 140m.’ That would be crazy.”

Klopp also had some strong words to say about owners of some Premier League clubs, particularly Manchester City. He suggested that there is no longevity if everything could be over “when the Sheikh can not be bothered any more.” In Germany, clubs cannot bought entirely by consortiums or businessmen with a percentage always kept under ownership of club members and fans. It is a stark contrast to the Premier League where the majority of clubs are owned by private investors.

In other parts of the interview Klopp praises the British mentality of accepting people as they are and revealed that he signed a new contract with Liverpool because he didn’t see himself managing anywhere else either in Germany or in any other country for the foreseeable future
