Chievo Verona are closing in on signing Samuel Bastien from Anderlecht on a permanent basis, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport. Bastien spent last season out on at Serie B side Avellino and had been heavily linked with the Reds earlier in the summer.
According to reports, Bastien will have a medical ahead of finalising a move to Italy tomorrow. The 19 year old’s contract with the Belgian side Anderlecht expires next summer and it looks as if they wanted to sell the player while they still could.
Last season, whilst out on loan at Avellino, Bastien told the club’s website tuttoavellino.it that he was flattered with Liverpool’s interest in him and that it was always great to be linked to a “great team”.
The link to Bastien was always a strange one considering he had only played two games for Anderlecht before being loaned out to an Italian second division team. He scored two goals and provided one assist in 31 league appearances for Avellino last season.
