Liverpool and Arsenal are following Sassuolo striker Gregoire Defrel “very carefully” and watched him score the only goal for his club in a 1-0 win against Udinese yesterday, according to gianlucadimarzio.com.

It was the third time that both clubs have watched the Frenchman, the Italian website reports, and they were no doubt left impressed by the 25 year old’s performance during the match.

Defrel was bought by Sassuolo for an undisclosed fee from Cesena in August 2015 but did not set the world alight during his first season scoring just seven goals in 33 league appearances. He has already scored the same number goals in nine games this season, as well as providing three assists.

The Frenchman has not been a prolific scorer in his career but his dribbling ability and pace has meant he has had many admirers. Jurgen Klopp added direct running and pace with Sadio Mane in the summer so is he looking for another similar style of player?
