The Italian press keep linking Liverpool with moves for goalkeepers for some reason despite the Reds having two players competing for number one spot in Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius at the moment. Yet, calciomercato.com believe that Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello is being followed by the Reds.

The Italian website believe Sportiello could become unsettled at Atalanta after the arrival of goalkeeper Etrit Berisha on loan from Lazio. Coincidentally Berisha was the reason why the Reds were linked with Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti earlier in the summer as the Albanian international was believed to be replacing Marchetti as first choice at the Stadio Olimpico.

Sportiello meanwhile has also courted interest from Napoli, Inter Milan and Fiorentina. Although Napoli have a first option on the 24 year old, it was Fiorentina who almost signed the Italian this summer and were within €500,000 of agreeing a fee, reports the website.

The Italian goalkeeper has started the season first choice for Atalanta though, and it is the third season in a row he has started as number one at the Serie A side.
