Former Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby expects centre back Dejan Lovren to return for the match against Swansea City tomorrow afternoon.

Estonian international Ragnar Klavan deputised for Lovren in the 5-1 rout over Hull City last weekend as the Croatian had a virus but although he believes Klavan did nothing wrong against the Tigers, Molby believes Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will revert to what he believes is the German’s first choice centre half pairing. He wrote in his column for the Liverpool Echo:

“I’d expect Dejan Lovren to come back in alongside Joel Matip. That would be harsh on Ragnar Klavan, who did nothing wrong last weekend. However, Lovren and Matip appear to be first choice.”

Individually both Lovren and Matip have looked impressive in the Reds side so far this campaign but they have yet to keep a clean sheet in the league, which will leave question marks over them until they do manage to consistently shut out opponents.

Matip especially has looked assured since coming in to the team against Burton and Tottenham but he was at fault for the goal against Chelsea while Lovren scored in that match. Hopefully the pair can get their first clean sheet of the season together against Swansea tomorrow.
