Portuguese newspaper Record have said that 32 different clubs, including Liverpool, had representatives at Sporting Lisbon’s match against Vitoria Guimaraes on Saturday.

Among the 32 sides named, the Reds, Manchester United, Barcelona, Juventus, Leicester City and Arsenal were the most notable ones at the game which ended as 3-3 draw.

Liverpool may well have been there just to check up on Lazar Markovic who started his first match at Sporting after making the loan switch to the Portuguese side in the summer. The Serbian winger scored after being included in the starting eleven. There could however be other reasons why Reds scouts were at the match.

Exciting young winger Gelson Martins was playing on the opposite flank to Markovic and has been interesting the likes of Manchester United according to reports in recent months. The Correio da Manha have reported that the 21 year old has recently rejected a new contract to stay at Sporting increasing speculation further about the player’s future.
