Liverpool are continuing to monitor Barcelona youth star Sergio Gomez, according to Marca.
The club are believed to have been looking at Gomez for a while with Marca also reporting back in March that Liverpool were willing to offer a blank cheque for the youngster and that the player could name his price.
Such a large financial reward is now highly unlikely with Jurgen Klopp imposing a salary cap on young players at the Reds’ Kirkby Academy, where youth players can now only earn a maximum of £40,000 a year in a bid to ensure that young players are not given too much too soon.
No doubt the Reds will lose out on some signings with this new policy as young players go elsewhere where higher wages are available; however, they will be hopeful that won’t prove the case with the talented 16-year old.
