Liverpool are taking Agustin Davila on trial from Uruguayan side Atletico Penarol, according to Sport Witness.

The club’s Twitter account confirmed that the player was due to fly to the UK for a fifteen day trial this week with an unnamed club but it looks as though Davila will be heading to the Kirkby Academy to  be assessed by Academy Director Alex Inglethorpe and his coaching staff.

Atletico Penarol’s youth team Juveniles Penarol tweeted the information on Friday with flights expected to take him from Uruguay to Merseyside on Saturday:

“Agustin Davila. Travel to England tomorrow 13.30 invited by a Club. 15 days. CONGRATULATIONS Goalscorer.”

Not much is known about Davila other than he is a prolific goalscorer and he can play up front or on the wings. His club Atletico Penarol is one of the most successful clubs in South America with 48 Uruguayan Primera Division league titles as well as five Copa Libertadores, the third highest in the continental tournament’s history.

Based in Uruguay’s capital Montevideo, they have a long history of producing international players and have had at least one player represented in all of Uruguay’s World Cup appearances.
