Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has given us some insight into Jurgen Klopp’s managerial style during an interview with a Dutch football publication.

Whilst speaking to ELF Voetbal magazine in the Netherlands, the Dutch international explains how high standards are set by the German manager:

“As you see him on TV, he is also the same in training. Then you only really see how enthusiastic he is, he always gives one hundred percent. Klopp says ’99 percent is not enough. You’re doing either one hundred percent, or you do not do it.’ That’s his approach, he is.. as he is in life. Many coaches would be different, but not with him.”

Wijnaldum goes on to say that Klopp only gets angry if a player does not do what he knows he can. He will not get annoyed with a player who makes mistakes. The Reds boss is described as being demanding in a positive way. Always expecting the player to play at their best level.

It was quite clear in his post match interview that Klopp was angry at his players at half time with the Reds 1-0 down against Swansea last week. The second half showing demonstrates a manager very capable of getting 100% out of his players when he demands it. He will be hoping for the same commitment in their next match against Manchester United.
