Juventus and Inter Milan could make offers for Benfica’s young Swedish centre back Victor Lindelof in the January transfer window, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The 22 year old has been consistently linked with Liverpool, among other clubs in the past, with the Reds sending scouts to Portugal to watch the player’s progress, but the Italian newspaper believes Juve and Inter are likely to make the first move.

Gazzetta report that Lindelof is currently only on €90,000 a year or roughly £1,500 a week as he hasn’t agreed to a new contract since his move from Swedish side Vasteras in 2012.

He still has a sizeable release clause of €30million in his contract which could prove a stumbling block for any potential suitors. Liverpool will likely allow Mamadou Sakho to leave in January but it is not thought they will be looking for a replacement with Lucas Leiva now being preferred by manager Jurgen Klopp as the third/fourth choice centre half.
