Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the press ahead of Liverpool’s EFL Cup quarter final against Leeds United tomorrow night and offered an update on four of the club’s injured stars.

As quoted by This is Anfield, the German discussed the current status of Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho with the quartet all set to miss out on the tie at Anfield.

Sturridge and Lallana were already on the injury table after missing out on the game at the weekend against Sunderland, a fixture that saw Coutinho stretchered off and Firmino subbed due to some clear discomfort, and Klopp addressed each player’s current fitness levels.

“Phil’s scan is this afternoon, and then we will know more,” revealed Klopp.

“Adam is in a very good way, close to team training, but not ready for the game.

“Daniel is not in team training, and the same with Roberto.

“Yesterday was still painful. It’s something we have to wait for. I think it will be OK, but I’m not sure in the moment.”

The Reds can reach the semi-finals of the competition for the second year running if they beat the Whites as they look to go one better than the loss they suffered to Manchester City in the final last season.

The Reds have won the competition more than any other club, with eight victories.
