Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho says he is determined not to give up on his Anfield career despite effectively being frozen out by manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 26 year old has not played a single minute for Liverpool’s first team this season despite being fully fit and playing regularly for the Reds’ Under 23 side. Talking briefly to French TV station Telefoot, Sakho said:

“I am still determined, I never give up.”

It is believed that both Stoke City and Lille will make offers for the French international in the January transfer window, and with no likelihood of first team opportunities at Anfield, the player looks odds on to leave the club.

Among others interviewed by Telefoot about Sakho’s future, France manager Didier Deschamps, former France international left back turned pundit Bixente Lizarazu and former Liverpool player Mario Balotelli have all encouraged Sakho to leave the Reds.

With Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan, Lucas and the fit again Joe Gomez are seemingly ahead of the Frenchman, the centre back may have to heed the calls and depart in January.
