Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia says he is concerned about the amount of game time he is currently getting at the Italian club.

The Frenchman told Chaine Equipe (translated by football-italia.net) that he is keeping his spirits high despite not starting a match since being subbed after 28 minutes in the league game against Bologna at the end of the last month:

“I remain optimistic, I have to be. The situation is what it is, I have to try and reverse the trend. As a player who wants to play though, it’s clear if the situation doesn’t change we’ll have to evaluate what to do. At the moment though, a departure is unthinkable. It’s a shame, because I felt good at the start of the season.”

The 24 year old has been linked heavily with Liverpool in the Italian press in recent weeks because of the midfielder’s lack of matches under Frank De Boer. The player’s fortunes could be about to change though after it was announced today that the Dutch manager had been sacked after just 11 matches in charge. The former Ajax boss managed just four wins during his time at the Giuseppe Meazza.

It could very well be the case that he regains his place in the side now De Boer has departed the club  but his future at Inter will almost certainly be decided by how the club’s next manager rates the French international.
