Liverpool target Christian Pulisic has made a surprising claim about his past which could help the Reds in their pursuit of the young Borussia Dortmund midfielder.

Pulisic told the Daily Mail that back in 2005 when he was just seven years of age, he played for a time in England in the youth ranks of Brackley Town in Northamptonshire. His experience of playing, as well as watching Premier League matches, inspired him to take up the game full time. The American International revealed:

“There were so many players that just showed so much skill and confidence in their games. I just loved the English style. I thought [before] it was just for fun. I just started to love it so much and I said: ‘Wow. I’m pretty good! I think I can do something with this game’.”

The Liverpool Echo believe that along with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud, the pair are Jurgen Klopp’s two main transfer targets for next summer. We will have to wait and see whether his love of the English game will be enough to push through a move to the Reds or whether he is now happy to remain in Germany and continue his development under current manager Thomas Tuchel at Dortmund.
