According to Ladbrokes News, Liverpool are the current bookies favourites to sign Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk in the next transfer window.
The Saints defender has been impressive since he joined from Celtic over a year ago but it is this season in particular that has seen him really grab the attention of some of the Premier League’s leading clubs.
The report highlights that the Reds are in front of Manchester City, Everton and Manchester United in the odds at the moment with a £40 million price tag being touted as the fee to prise him away from the south coast.
Should the Dutchman join the Reds he would join Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip as centre halves that have signed so far this season whilst he’d also be the latest in a line of Southampton players to come to Merseyside.
The most recent of which was Sadio Mane who made the switch to Anfield in the summer and has scored six goals from twelve Premier League games.
