Liverpool legend Ian Rush believes Philippe Coutinho’s performances in the Red shirt this season have elevated him above Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.

The Brazilian’s performances have also landed him a regular first team place in the Brazilian side, and his consistency under Jurgen Klopp this campaign have meant he has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Real Madrid. Rush, speaking exclusively to 888sport said that the 24 year old’s statistics show he is outperforming Chelsea’s number 10 this season:

“I’m biased because I watch him play a lot but I think he is the best in the Premier League. Hazard is doing well at Chelsea but Coutinho is outperforming Hazard this season. He is scoring more goals with more assists and he has been fantastic. He was good last year but he’s kicked on now is a much better player.”

In 12 league matches this season, Coutinho has scored five league goals and provided five assists for his team mates. In contrast Hazard has been involved in two fewer goals, scoring seven and providing one assist.

Where the Brazilian has sometimes failed in recent years is his consistency over a whole campaign but with the player now maturing into a key figure for the Reds, he will likely keep up his good form for the remainder of the season.
