As reported by O Globo, Liverpool’s U23 boss Michael Beale is set to move to Brazil and take up a coaching role with Sao Paulo, potentially opening the door for the return of Steven Gerrard as perĀ The Liverpool Echo.

Beale has been involved with bringing through some of the most recent youngsters into the Reds’ first team with Ben Woodburn the latest to step into the senior side, an occasion he marked by becoming our youngest ever scorer.

The coach now looks set to join the South American side, however, and it could be the first movement to get Steven Gerrard back into the fold for the Reds.

The club legend and former skipper retired from football earlier this season after finishing his playing days with LA Galaxy and whilst his future remains to be confirmed, rumours are rife that he could be going to return to the club in some form of coaching role.

He may not necessarily take over the Reds’ U23 side but Beale’s departure means a vacancy that could be more suitable may be about to crop up.

What role would you give Gerrard if he was to return, Reds? Let us know below…
