According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool are amongst a whole host of elite European clubs reportedly monitoring the progress of Genk’s Leon Bailey.

The 19-year-old forward has shone in Belgium this season with an array of fine performances and they certainly haven’t gone unnoticed with our club joined by the likes of Chelsea and Lyon in the chase.

If we want to sign him, though, it appears we’ll have to be ready to move fast with AS Roma and Bayer Leverkusen reportedly ready to launch (€23.1 million) £20 million bids – surely ensuring a bidding war ignites.

Such action from either the German or Italian side this month could see the player move before the window shuts in a couple of weeks and, as things stand, Bailey would mark our first delve into the transfer market this January.

Bailey can play down either the right or the left wing and that suggests he would be quite the option in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
