According to Squawka, the Reds are eyeing a €26 million (£22 million) move for Benifca striker Raul Jiminez in a deal that would go through in the summer.

The Reds could certainly do with more options throughout the squad with only our first XI really good enough to compete for the Premier League title this season.

When you look at our bench things certainly don’t seem to be fully set up for a sustained charge at the league crown and so this potential signing has to be more than welcomed.

With Daniel Sturridge a repeated injury problem, Divock Origi still having plenty to learn and Roberto Firmino having to play out of position more often than not we really could do with another striker.

Jiminez, then, could be the answer with him scoring eight goals in 18 appearances in all competitions this season so far for the Portuguese side.
