It looks like the Premier League title is going to be out of our reach this season now.
And, unfortunately for us, it’s a familiar feeling that we’ve grown accustomed to over the last 20 or so years.
The Reds lost at home to Swansea City in the lunchtime game this weekend just gone if you were fortunate to somehow not know and looked to put themselves in the back seat of the title race.
It’s not impossible that we can still win it, of course, but really we needed to beat the Swans to keep up the pace.
Still, whilst we wait to see how the Reds respond in the coming weeks we decided to replace the frustration with a certain sense of wistfulness over other campaigns that might have been league winning years.
We ended up in dream mode, too, and came up with this XI of title challenges past and present that would have definitely taken the crown back to Anfield…
