The realisation that we’re going to miss Sadio Mane over the coming weeks is really starting to hit home now.
We already had the feeling that we’d miss the Senegalese international whilst he was away with his country at AFCON 2017 but if there were any doubts, Wednesday night’s game banished them.
His pace and guile going forward were sorely gone from the side as we laboured to a 1-0 loss and now the feeling must be that we need to get a replacement for him in this window.
That may seem a bit quick-fire, of course, but if Senegal reach the final of AFCON 2017, something that is certainly possible, we stand to miss out on Mane for up to seven games in all competitions.
