It sounds bad but not for the first time we’d forgotten Danny Ings was a part of the Liverpool squad.

We’re sure we’re not the only ones to have let that slip the mind, either, as the ex-Burnley star has been ravaged by injury since he joined the club under Brendan Rodgers.

Make no mistake, when he’s fit and on the pitch we do believe he looks like the kind of player that could make a serious difference but it appears we won’t see anymore of that until next season.

Out since the EFL Cup win against Spurs last year the English forward is still on the road to recovery and, as quoted by the club’s official website, Jurgen Klopp has revealed there’s still some time to go.

He said:

“Danny is not fit. He’s in a good way but it will take time.

“I don’t think there is any chance for this season. We are looking at pre-season.”

We’ll have to wait a little longer, then, and we can only hope he finds full-fitness and keeps it once the new season arrives.
