The Reds are back in action this weekend after what seems like an absolute age but we’ve seemingly been dealt an early blow ahead of that.

We’ve been away from competitive football since the weekend before last where we beat Spurs 2-0.

That result, hopefully, will set up a real challenge for the Champions League spots and whilst most of the squad have been out in La Manga preparing for it – Dejan Lovren has not.

He’s been trying to recover from an injury back on Merseyside but it appears that’s not gone to plan.

According to The Mirror the Croatian defender is off to Germany to see a specialist over his knee in what could be a pretty detrimental blow to our defence.

The extent of his injury is, as yet, unknown but it’s more than likely that he’ll be out of action for the game against Leicester this weekend as the Premier League resumes.
