We returned to our Premier League engagements last night against Chelsea at Anfield as a long January came to an end.
And, in the end, it was a slightly upbeat finish to a pretty torrid month with an encouraging performance against the Blues.
We had more possession and more chances but couldn’t find that cutting edge to really put the game to bed and, after David Luiz’s free-kick, there were worries we might not get anything from the match.
That’s not what happened, though, as Georginio Wijnaldum nodded home in the second half before Simon Mignolet saved a Diego Costa penalty to preserve parity.
In truth, it was a game we could have won with a bit more urgency and clinical finishing and so, with that in mind, here are two players that could have done more in the game last night…
