We’re heading into a vital few months in terms of the immediate future and success of Liverpool right now.

Indeed, though we’re waiting for the international break to be over we can’t help but wind our minds forward and look at what could happen in the crucial games to come, as well as the summer window.

Ideally, we’ll finish in the top four and then bring some top quality players in, as well as keeping our best stars and it appears the latter is on course at least.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Guillem Balague has revealed that Barcelona are not interested in signing Philippe Coutinho with them wanting to go for Marco Verratti instead.

He said:

“Barca are after a midfielder and Coutinho is more of a forward. Marco Verratti is the one they want but he may be too expensive for them.”

Certainly, this is good news to hear from a man you like to feel has a decent sense of what is going on in Spain and La Liga.

And, whilst Coutinho is in poor form at the moment, there can be no doubt that he’s still one of our key players and someone we desperately need to keep hold of.
