As quoted by Sky Sports, Phil Thompson thinks that the Reds could go for three Southampton players this summer when the window opens up.
The Reds were left once again frustrated by the Saints at the weekend for the fourth time this season as we suffered a slight setback in the race for the top four.
The disappointment, though, was tempered by the fact Manchester United lost to Arsenal and so things do at least remain in our hands.
Whatever happens, though, there can be no doubt that the club needs extra players for the new season and it seems as though our European Cup winning captain reckons we could go for Southampton players yet again.
Indeed, he tipped Ryan Bertrand, Virgil Van Dijk and Oriol Romeu to all be of interest in the summer and they would certainly bolster areas of the pitch that need options.
