As quoted by ClubCall, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has refused to be drawn on a rather prominent topic – the future of Daniel Sturridge.

For a lot of this season we have seen the England international out of the side injured and that has led many to wonder just whether or not he is going to be staying at the club.

Even so, he did play in the final few games of the season and looked rather sharp meaning it really is anyone’s guess as to whether he is retained at Anfield past this season.

Certainly, Klopp wasn’t giving anything away when speaking in Australia recently as the Reds played in a friendly over there.

He said when asked if he wanted the striker to stay:

“That’s not the question, it’s nothing for here. Whatever I say it would be a headline and I don’t want headlines after the season. I am fine with the headlines already.

“It is not always in our hands. It’s not just about Daniel. That’s how transfers work – whether someone stays or not. There are a few things still to do this summer, but we have time.”

Sturridge’s future, then, really does remain to be resolved.
